Hiking Trails
Dyson Trail
Location: Within Phillips Park (11667 Rich Road)
Difficulty: Moderate
This is the city's newest trail. Opening in 2024, the Dyson Trail is a one-mile loop running alongside Fallis Road in Phillips Park.
East Loveland Nature Preserve
Location: 227 E Loveland Ave.
Difficulty: Easy
East Loveland Nature Preserve offers four small trails, which make for about one mile of hiking. There is a bird blind and a footbridge to access O’Bannon Creek. Visitors often spot deer, hawks, woodpeckers, and owls. Download trail map.
Little Miami Scenic Trail/Buckeye Trail
Location: Historic Downtown
Difficulty: Easy
Visitors come from near and far to start at the Loveland trailhead of the Little Miami Scenic Trail. In total, the trail is more than 78 miles long! Part of the trail overlaps with the Buckeye Trail, which is a 1,444- mile path looping around Ohio. Loveland is officially recognized as a Buckeye Trail Town, meaning we are a destination for outdoor recreation. Please note the trail is paved asphalt and ADA-friendly.
Simpson Ridge Trail
Location: Access from Phillips Park (11667 Rich Road) or across from the entrance of Kiwanis Park (240 Wall St.)
Difficulty: Moderate
The Simpson Nature Preserve is a remnant of largely untouched Old Growth Forest. Steep inclines and declines may make the trail challenging. Access from the rear of Phillips Park near the basketball court. The top loop is 0.42 mile, leading downhill to the entrance of Kiwanis Park.
West Loveland Nature Preserve
Location: Approx. 2006 W. Loveland Ave. past Glen Lake Road
Difficulty: Moderate
The 26.5-acre West Loveland Nature Preserve (formerly known as Hidden Creek) offers two trails within a creek valley. One trail follows the creek, and the second trail crosses the creek.
Camping
Some trails offer free, primitive campsites. Make a reservation online.
Buckeye Trail: Two campsites are located along the Little Miami River about .25 miles past Nisbet Park in both directions.
Simpson Nature Preserve: Two campsites are located on the Kiwanis Park side of the preserve.
West Loveland Nature Preserve: The trail that crosses the creek leads to a picnic area and two campsites.
