Unclaimed Property

In accordance with Section 2981.11 (Care of property in law enforcement custody) and Section C of the Ohio Revised Code, a law enforcement agency with custody of property to be disposed of under section 2981.12 or 2981.13 of the Revised Code shall make a reasonable effort to locate persons entitled to possession of the property, to notify them of when and where it may be claimed, and to return the property to them at the earliest possible time. 

In the absence of evidence identifying persons entitled to possession, it is sufficient notice to advertise in a newspaper of general circulation in the county and to briefly describe the nature of the property in custody and inviting persons to view and establish their right to it.

How to Claim Property

Anyone with a claim to the property must contact the Loveland Police Department's Support Services Assistant Erin Godsey at (513) 707-6111 or egodsey@lovelandoh.gov. Property Room hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

  • An appointment must be made to view the property.
  • Sufficient proof of ownership must be established to receive any claimed property.
  • All property must be claimed in person and cannot be mailed or shipped.
  • Anyone claiming property must bring valid government identification.
