Chief Michael J. Gabrielson joined the Loveland Police Department in August 2022.
Formerly, he was the Assistant Chief of Police with the Kettering (Ohio) Police Department, where he began as a patrolman in 1993. His responsibilities as Assistant Chief included leading one of two major divisions of the department with special focus on patrol operations, administrative support, community relations, and criminal investigations.
Gabrielson holds more than 25 years of experience as a certified peace officer in the State of Ohio and more than 20 years as a law enforcement instructor. He holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Tiffin University and has pursued ongoing education through the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety.
