[ARCHIVED] Love Was in the Air During Hearts Afire Weekend

Hearts Afire Weekend

Love was in the air Feb. 7-9 during the City of Loveland’s fourth annual Hearts Afire Weekend. The event featured fire and ice elements with live entertainment and outdoor decorations. Businesses throughout the city participated with valentine specials and love-inspired activities.

One of the most popular weekend attractions was the ice sculptures. In fact, more than 30 ice sculptures were on display in Historic Downtown. Attendees could follow along through a digital map to discover the sculptures. Sculptures ranged from characters from Frozen and Wicked, as well as designs representing businesses. Attendees also had the chance to see live ice carving — four sculptures were carved from 300-pound blocks of ice on Saturday afternoon.

Other popular events around town included horse and carriage rides; a group vow renewal ceremony with Elvis (AKA Mayor Kathy Bailey); pottery painting at Whistle Stop Clay Works; and a comedy show at The Landing Event Center.
