The City of Loveland is launching mass notification software called CivicReady, and residents are encouraged to sign up for free alerts.
The city will be able to issue urgent notifications, emergency instructions, warnings, and routine communications to subscribed residents via email, text message, and voicemail to keep people safe and informed. In a local emergency, community members subscribed to the system will benefit from immediate, actionable information and instructions sent via their preferred notification channel.
For instance, emergency alerts could be related to specific hazards that require some kind of action to be taken such as evacuation, shelter in place, boil water orders, etc. Non-emergency alerts could include event news, construction projects, or significant ongoing police or fire activity.
Sign up for alerts at https://loveland-oh.myfreealerts.com. When you sign up for these alerts, please provide your address and preferred method(s) of contact. Adding your full street address will allow information that is specific to your geographical area to be sent to you. Any and all contact details you share are confidential and will not be shared. The alert service is free; however, standard text messaging rates may apply.
“The city is in a very unique position because our boundaries overlap three counties, and our water service extends into surrounding townships. This can make it difficult to communicate with residents, as well as our water customers. CivicReady is a significant upgrade from our previous alert system and will strengthen how we communicate with our community,” explained Dave Kennedy, City Manager.
The mass notification software also integrates with the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Integrated Public Alert Warning System (IPAWS). The IPAWS system leverages national emergency communication channels, such as the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and NOAA weather radios, to provide area-specific alerts in times of emergency. By integrating with IPAWS, the City of Loveland will be able to reach as many people as possible during an emergency event.
