The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the City of Loveland, Ohio, its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for fiscal year 2022.
“The city has received this award each year since 2014,” explained Director of Finance Mark Medlar. On behalf of the city’s Finance Department, Medlar accepted a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Preparation from the GFOA.
The award is considered a significant achievement amongst government entities, reflecting the commitment of city staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
To receive the budget award, the city had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well the city’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device. In these four categories, budget documents must be rated "proficient.” Additionally, within each category, there are 14 mandatory criteria that must be met to receive the award.
