The 2021 Stan McCoy Sr. Community Service Volunteer Award was bestowed to Matt Kapszukiewcz by the Recreation Board on Jan. 25 at the Loveland City Council meeting.
This annual award is presented to a nominee who has participated in recreation activities that benefit the city and/or residents for at least three years. The award has come to symbolize involvement in youth sports.
Kapszukiewcz has been an active participant with the Loveland Youth Baseball Organization at nearly every level. He has served as an officer (present and vice president); manager/coach; support group leader; umpire; tournament organizer — the list goes on. He is also an active member with the Loveland Athletic Boosters.
Many noted how Kapszukiewcz led the program through the pandemic: “In 2020, when the world was in turmoil due to the pandemic, many Little League organizations decided to cancel the season. Matt realized how important it was for us to bring some normalcy to these children. He helped us develop a plan to address the safety protocols, got it approved, and we had a season. Kids got to be kids during one of the most traumatic times in our country’s history.”
Congratulations and thank you for your service to the community, Matt!
