[ARCHIVED] LSFD Awarded Grant

The Loveland-Symmes Fire Department has been awarded an Assistance to Firefighters Grant totaling $193,090.91 through the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA for fiscal year 2020.

The grant funding is comprised of three divisions, which will allow the department to cover ongoing training costs and to purchase new equipment. The grant breakdown is as follows:

  • Air Compressor/Cascade/Fill Station for Filling Self-Contained-Breathing-Apparatus — $123,600
    (The pack that firefighters wear into hazardous conditions)
  • Paramedic Training — $60,000 (Six students at $10,000/student)
  • Thermal Imaging Camera — $28,800 (Four cameras at $7,200/camera)

In 2019, the department received a $30,000 Assistance to Firefighters Grant for paramedic training.

About the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department
Operating as a private fire company, the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department provides fire and emergency medical services to approximately 28,000 residents. LSFD has received a Class 1 Public Protection Classification rating from the Insurance Services Office, which assesses local fire departments’ readiness. Class 1 is the highest rating any fire department can receive, ranking LSFD as one of only 383 fire departments in the United States to achieve this honor.
