During the recent supplier switch, the city identified a problem where some active members of the aggregation program were improperly coded by Duke Energy, resulting in rejection of some enrollments. As the city has continued to investigate the situation with our supplier (Energy Harbor) and our consultant, we have determined that these were not isolated incidents and that multiple accounts were blocked from joining the program.
To address this issue, Energy Harbor will be sending opt-out letters to all of the accounts affected by this error with information to re-submit enrollments. Those letters will go out as soon as Energy Harbor has updated data from the local utility, which is already in progress.
Please note that:
- When the letters arrive, residents will be automatically added back to the program unless they choose to opt-out. No action is necessary to re-join the program at a later date if you opt-out.
- Residents (who stay in the program) will then receive one more letter from Duke confirming their switch to Energy Harbor. You do not need to respond to the confirmation letters.
- Anyone who is unsure about their enrollment can call Energy Harbor at (866) 636-3749 to check their status.
