[ARCHIVED] City's 2024 Water Rate Not Increasing

Tap Water

The water rate for the City of Loveland is the same in 2024 as in 2023, and the city remains one of the lowest priced water utility providers in the State of Ohio.

This information is based on an annual rate survey comparing water and sewer costs for 2024 across 69 water jurisdictions. The survey was conducted by the City of Piqua.

The 2024 water rate for City of Loveland customers was found to be $125.40 based on 22,500 gallons of water for a three-month period. In 2023, the rate was $125 for the same period, meaning the city’s water rate is holding steady even with the $7.50 Water Main Replacement (WMR) Fee, which was added to bills in early 2023.

“We are very proud to operate our own water treatment facility in the city. This gives us better control of our rate, rather than outsourcing water service. In this time of rising utility costs and inflation, we are very pleased to be ranked as the 17th least expensive water source of survey participants,” explained David Kennedy, Loveland City Manager.

As for the sewer rate, while customers’ utility bills may be addressed from the City of Loveland, the city does not control the sanitary sewer rate. That rate is set by the Hamilton County Commissioners for the entire Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) of Greater Cincinnati. Thus, the 2024 sewer rate cost for City of Loveland customers is $255.47 for a three-month period. MSD implemented a rate increase effective March 1, 2024. For comparison, the 2023 cost was $248 for a three-month period.
