Business Leaders Honored

Ralph Dunnigan Award

At the May 23 meeting, City Council recognized two local business leaders.

2023 Business Enhancement Award: SAW Pilates
The Loveland Business Enhancement Award is given to a business in the City of Loveland that has demonstrated an increase in business, increase in the number of employees, and exhibited effort to enhance the property. For 2023, SAW Pilates was recognized. SAW Pilates offers group and private classes in its bright boutique studio near West Loveland Avenue.

Councilmember John Hart presented the award to owner Annette Friesner. Friesner recently led a renovation of the studio, including a fresh repainting of the building’s exterior. An eye-catching mural featuring children was painted on the building’s side.

Hart noted that Friesner’s unique business and the new mural add to the City of Loveland’s character.

“We love being in Loveland. Everyone is enjoying the mural. It makes us happy to make people happy,” Freisner said.

Paxton Ranger: Ralph Dunnigan
Ralph Dunnigan, former owner of Paxton’s Grill, was named a Colonel Paxton Ranger, an award that recognizes distinguished service by Loveland area citizens who improve the city Colonel Paxton founded.

Kevin Egan presented the award to Dunnigan, who operated Paxton’s since 2004. Egan noted Paxton’s was one of the only restaurants in town in the early 2000s and was establishing its family friendly reputation — now many refer to it as the Cheers of Loveland, where everyone knows your name.

“Lots has changed, but what hasn’t changed is Ralph’s consistency and commitment to Loveland,” Egan stated.

In addition to running day-to-day operations, Dunnigan helped Paxton’s donate thousands over the years to many local causes including charities, Loveland LIFE Food Pantry, and local schools. He started the Annual Paxton’s Golf Outing to raise money for CancerFREE Kids.

“It’s been a great 19 years. I’ve had a great run and I look forward to seeing everyone around town!” Dunnigan said.
